Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship

Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business and Administration

This qualification is for individuals who are working in business and administration.  The aim of this qualification is to provide you with the skills, knowledge and competencies to support business systems, processes and services and to be able to contribute to making businesses more efficient and productive.  This course is perfect for you if you work in the following roles: business support officer, administrator, administrative assistant, administrative officer, office junior, receptionist, junior secretary or personal assistant.


The course is primarily delivered in the workplace with on and off the job guided learning.    


To be eligible for the apprenticeship you must:

  • be 16 years of age or more
  • hold a valid national insurance number
  • have lived in the UK or EU for the last 3 years
  • have a paid contract of employment and work 16 hours a week or more
  • not hold any qualification at level 4 or above


Duration:  12 months


Framework details: Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration, Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration, Functional Skills at Level 1 (English, Mathematics and ICT), Employee Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking skills.


The Level 2 NVQ Certificate is made up of 4 Mandatory Units (9 credits) and a selection of Optional Units (totalling 12 credits from the remaining 47 Optional Units in Group B and 23 Optional Units in Group C).


Delivery: The competency qualification is achieved through an assessed portfolio (paper or electronic) of evidence.  Other components are achieved through workbooks, paper and online tests.

    • Bespoke software
    • Data management software
    • Database software
    • Improving productivity using IT
    • Presentation software
    • Spreadsheet software
    • Word processing software


There is no requirement to take any credits from Group C, they can all come from Group B
