CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE'S WORKFORCE
Vocational Training is dedicated to ensuring all requirements of environmental legislation and the subsequent approved codes are complied with within the workplace, creating a safe and healthy environment for its workforce.
This Policy is continually reassessed with changes made where necessary, demonstrating our commitment to a high
level of environmental protection, by reducing pollution, emissions and waste as outlined below. All staff are
encouraged to abide by the Policy wherever possible.
All products that can be recycled are recycled. Paper waste (which is kept to a minimum due to the high frequency of electronic communication) is collected by Basics Plus, a training and work experience project for people with special needs. Printer consumables including toner cartridges are collected in a Recycling box specifically for laser and inkjet
cartridges and old mobile phones. General waste is sorted and disposed of in line with the Council’s recycling
Due to the location of the office in the centre of Hanley, members of staff are encouraged to walk where possible.
When cars are used for business, meetings are organised to coincide with other clients within a similar geographical
area so fewer journeys are made.
All staff members are encouraged to remember to turn electrical appliances off when they are not being used and to
keep water usage to a minimum. Energy efficient light bulbs are also throughout the building.
